หลังจากรอคอยกันมานาน ในที่สุด Niks ก็ได้ฤกษ์เปิดตัว กล้อง SLR ตัวใหม่ล่าสุด ซึ่งก็คือ Nikon D5000 นั่นเอง ด้วยความกังขาว่า น้องคนสุดท้องคนนี้จะมีทีเด็ดอะไรที่จะบ้าง ที่จะมัดใจสาวกนิกส์ที่รออย่างใจจดใจจ่อ เรามาเริ่มกันที่ ความละเอียด 12.3 ล้านพิกเซล ระบบ Auto Focus 11 จุด TTL ความไวแสงทำได้สูงสุดถึง ISO 6400 จอ LCD TFT 2.7" ระบบ Live View AF ได้เพิ่มเติม Feature Object Tracking เข้ามาด้วย นอกจากนี้ยังเพิ่มโหมดถ่ายภาพมาอีก 2 โหมดได้แก่ Color Outline และ Perspective Control ช่องมองภาพแบบสะท้อนกระจก เป็นต้น ซึ่งเมื่อมาเปรียบเทียบกับกล้องดิจิตอล รุ่นที่อยู่ในตลาด 2 รุ่น ได้แก่ Nikon D60 และ Nikon D90 ซึ่ง Nikon D5000 จะมีสเปคที่ใกล้เคียงกับ Nikon D90 ค่อนข้างมาก ขนาดและน้ำหนักก็ใกล้เคียงกันแต่จะย่อมกว่านิดหน่อย ความแตกต่างที่สำคัญคงจะได้แก่ การที่ D5000 ไม่มีมอร์เตอร์ในตัว LCD ที่เล็กกว่า Nikon D90 เพื่อที่จะแลกกับ Feature ใหม่ๆที่เพิ่มเข้ามา ด้วยราคาเปิดตัวที่ใกล้เคียงกับ Nikon D90 ก็ทำให้หลายๆคนคิดหนักกันเลยทีเดียว
