Leica M10
The camera.
Its unique balance of heritage and technical innovation embodies the essence of everything that is truly important for photography.
Compact dimensions, improved performance and the new ISO setting dial on the top plate offer M-Photographers what they wish for from an M-Camera.
Since the release of the Leica M3 at Photokina in 1954, every single M-System camera has represented the pinnacle of innovation for its day. Defined by what is essential for photography. Leica embodies this passion for quality, craftsmanship and its philosophy of photography to this day.
More than 60 years of rangefinder expertise, 11 years of digital M-Camera development and invaluable feedback from dedicated M-Photographers have inspired Leica engineers to create the slimmest digital M of all time: the Leica M10.
“Working with the Leica M10 was like meeting up with an old friend.”
British photographer Matt Stuart has been photographing the streets of London for over 20 years. This has given him a unique ability for identifying situations in fractions of a second and perfectly capturing their essence in pictures. It is, therefore, not surprising that he is counted among the most prominent representatives of his genre: contemporary street photography.
Matt Stuart was one of the first photographers to be given the chance to test the M10 – in Brussels. The resulting images were as beautiful and diverse as the city itself: curiosities and exciting snippets of everyday life – all captured by Matt Stuart in perfect little masterpieces. The camera felt familiar and ideal from the first moment on: ‘The M10 feels exactly like an analog Leica. Small and discreet – for me, it’s perfect. It’s like meeting up with an old friend again.
“What I like most is the ability to change ISO values, shutter speeds and apertures while the camera is switched off.”
Italian photographer Fulvio Bugani (*1974) has travelled to Cuba many times since his first visit in 2009. When he was commissioned to test the M10, he returned to the Caribbean island, which has in the meantime become his home away from home.
“The pictures I just captured with the M10 are part of a long-term project that began as a documentation of Cuban lifestyle. In the course of time, it has developed to become a personal exploration of the current situation of the country with the aim of gaining a better understanding of all facets of the current circumstances,” says Fulvio Bugani, summarising his work in Cuba.
“I tried to let all the new aspects of the M10 dictate what I shot. That’s why I often shot in low light and with high ISO values and also kept an eye on the shooting speed.”
William Daniels draws a predominantly melancholy picture of Romania, as seen through his eyes on a round trip through the country with the Leica M10 and Summilux-M 35 and 50 mm f/1.4 ASPH. lenses. From Bucharest to Constanta on the Black Sea coast, to Cluj-Napoca in the North of the country and on to rural Rosia Montana.
